Moving from primary school to secondary school is a big step for children and here at Saint John Wall Catholic School we share the concerns parents and children may have.
To support your child in a smooth transition to our secondary school our Primary Liaison Co-ordinator regularly visits our Catholic and non-Catholic primary schools throughout the year.
We regularly invite Year 5 and 6 pupils to our school for them to take part in fun activities in Science, PE, ICT, Music, Art and RS.
We feel it is vitally important that pupils feel at ease when moving from primary school to secondary school. So here at Saint John Wall Catholic School we take a number of steps to help and support parents and pupils in this process:
Open Mornings and Open Evening
In order for parents of pupils in primary school to get a feel of our secondary school we will hold Open Mornings and an Open Evening in September 2019.
Parents can visit our school during our normal school day from 9.30am to 12.30pm and take a tour accompanied by pupils. During the tour parents can visit a number of lessons, talk to members of staff and see the excellent facilities we have to offer.
During Open Evening from 4.30pm to 6.00pm parents can visit our school with their children and take a tour of all the Departments. You and your children will have the opportunity to take part in activities, talk to teachers and senior management about Saint John Wall Catholic School.
My child has been accepted at Saint John Wall Catholic School – What happens next?
Once your child has formally been accepted into Saint John Wall Catholic School we go even further to help support them in their smooth transition into secondary school life.
Year 6 pupils who have formally been accepted into Saint John Wall Catholic School will be invited to attend an Induction Day on 3 July 2019.
The aim of the Induction Day is to allow Year 6 pupils to experience the life of a secondary school pupil. The day will be full of fun activities and they will also meet their Head of Year – Mrs Ellis.
